WOODLAND HOME RENOVATION Shenandoah Valley, Virginia
This cabin had been used as a weekend retreat since it was built in the late 1970's. The owner wanted to make it into a primary residence by giving it a cottage look. Though not high classical in design, the basic elements of order have been used to give the cabin a new look, as well as a much needed sense of Entry.
The natural elements were carried to the inside, using locally quarried Virginia Soapstone from Alberene and salvaged barn boards for the kitchen. An office loft was added over the main room, and an upstairs bump-out provides an additional bath.
New top-of-the-line windows provide improved energy efficiency, and a new color scheme accents the exterior.
