In some weird sort of way, our homes are extensions of ourselves. Architecture is never a private matter. By its very nature, architecture is in the public eye and therefore a public matter. This home was an extension of Mr. Nelson, over 100 years ago, as well as the Roanoke architect who designed it, and it is sad to think that it will soon be gone. He was a true statesman from what I understand - and that title is not held among many politicians of today's modern world.
Successful communities happen when we work TOGETHER to build stronger communities, not individually to build our own empires or egos.
Rest In Peace to the Nelson House... Your nobility in our humble town will be missed, especially when we are all stuck with a four story mock-Colonial office building.
